When it comes to your health and well-being, it can be tricky to make time in the midst of everyone else’s needs, but you deserve care too. You are more than a therapist, you are a whole human being. That is the reason for Whole Human Financial-to serve fellow therapists in meeting their financial needs.

My goal is to provide resources to therapists so that they can feel confident when it comes to their financial well-being. This includes both the business and personal side of things. You may not want to know everything about bookkeeping or taxes, and that is perfectly fine! But, I would like for you to know enough to be able to ensure that whoever you hire to help you with these things is giving you what you need and not over-charging you for things you don’t need.

I, too, am a therapist working in private practice. When I first started with this business, I was shocked to find out how much we needed to do and know regarding legal, tax, and accounting matters. “They didn’t teach us that in grad school!” I thought. Many of these services can be fairly pricey, especially when just starting out and trying to keep overhead costs low, so in an effort to save money, I started learning all I could.

Maybe it’s the fact that numbers are not so messy as human beings and it feels kind of nice to just have an answer to things instead of always living out the questions as we often do as therapists. Whatever the reason, I ended up finding a program to get certified as a bookkeeper and tax preparer and then also got certified with the IRS to be a volunteer tax preparer to help low-income taxpayers get their taxes done for free.

I still love working as a therapist, but I started Whole Human Financial to help support therapists by combining my knowledge of what it is to be a therapist in private practice with what I’ve learned about bookkeeping and taxes. This way, you can have someone who understands and has your best interest in mind to help you create a solid foundation from which to grow your business and nourish your whole human life.
